This is why I believe polarization in the U.S. is (fortunately) on its way out...eventually...kicking and screaming. It's simply not sustainable and not serving anyone anymore. This idea of the left in particular being subversive just for the sake of subversion itself is so accurate. And, frankly, so childish. So much so that it leaves a foul taste in the mouth, particularly for someone like myself and many of my friends and neighbors who once embraced liberalism and its alignment with tolerance, open-mindedness, critical thought, and peace. Boy, have we strayed.

The lesson to be learned, I suppose, is that no ideology is immune from being blinded by power and influence, even if it means looking straight into the eyes of the very thing you claim to loathe while simultaneously rejoicing at its existence as the voices of any dissenting opinion is drowned by self-righteousness, or even worse: robotic regurgitation of the "subversive" buzz words and phrases learned just yesterday over issues they cared and knew nothing about. It serves nobody but them, and I can't imagine how it must feel to be on your side of the world - the ones with a true stake in such an unimaginable crisis - and be lectured by those who think they know better. Arrogance at its worst from those who are so quick to label everyone but themselves as privileged and arrogant.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts so eloquently and honestly. Humanity still lives here, and we weep for and with all of you, as humans, and if the smallest thing we can do is to close our mouths for once and listen: we are listening.
